Franklin Izuchukwu Maduka is the visionary Founder, CEO, and Creative Director of Fenz Fashion Limited. The concept of Fenz Fashion emerged during Franklin’s time in college. Hailing from Abia State, Franklin was raised in Lagos, the bustling commercial center of Nigeria and in 2013, he relocated to Ghana to pursue higher education, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Management. After completing his studies, Franklin decided to stay in Accra, Ghana’s capital, where he founded Fenz Fashion Limited.
Though he grew up in a family with deep roots in fashion, he didn’t initially see himself becoming a designer. However, overtime, his passion for fashion and the business surrounding it grew. Reflecting on his journey, Franklin said, “My late mother was a fashion designer. In fact, many of my relatives are involved in the fashion business in some way. I grew up surrounded by fashion, but as a child and teenager, I didn’t enjoy it due to the demands and sacrifices it required. At some point, though, I discovered a deep passion for fashion design, which came from wanting to look my best and helping others feel confident and stylish I didn’t see it as something I was going to do in the long run”
Fenz Fashion was officially launched in 2019, right before the global disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Franklin draws his creative inspiration from many sources. “Inspiration comes from various places, but for me, the simplest things often leave the most impact. I have a strong connection to nature, and I find a lot of inspiration in it—the gentle sound of the sea breeze, the rustling of trees and leaves.” Known for his attention to detail, Franklin holds himself to high standards, saying, “I would never wear something that doesn’t reflect my personal style or meet my standards.”
Discussing his approach to fashion and style, Franklin explained, “Fashion and style are deeply personal. They reflect how you wish to be perceived and remembered, even when you’re not present. Something he learnt from his late mum. Fashion is an expression of who you are; it’s what gives you confidence without conforming to trends. Style is about understanding the dynamics and knowing how to present yourself—that’s what defines who you are and what you’ll be known for.”
Franklin has styled a wide range of high-profile clients across various industries, from top business leaders and executives to politicians, academics, and West African celebrities. His notable clientele includes MzVee from Ghana, Laycon (Big Brother Naija winner), Umoh Emmanuel (Big Brother Naija finalist), and many others.
